Bird banding at Lackawanna State Park

LACKAWANNA STATE PARK — Northeast PA Audubon will sponsor a bird-banding field trip at Lackawanna State Park starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. Ornithologists Drs. Rob Smith and Meg Hatch will be the hosts. They have been conducting birding banding activities in order to discover the needs of migratory birds when choosing a nesting site. They will demonstrate how the data is collected by mist-netting the birds. Participants will be able to see these birds up close and possibly even touch them. The event is free.
