PA Primary vote on May 19

By TOM KANE

PIKE & WAYNE COUNTIES, PA - Since this is an off year, the election of Pennsylvania municipal positions will be held as opposed to the election of national and most state official positions.

Republican and Democratic primaries will be held on May 19.

In Wayne, there will be 255 candidates seeking to fill local municipal positions and school boards. In Pike County, 89 candidates are running.

The municipal positions in both counties are: township and borough supervisors, magisterial judges, tax collectors, judges of election boards, constables, auditors, inspectors of elections, mayors and school board members.

Statewide positions will be limited to state judges.

In Lackawaxen Township, the question of building a new $1.9 million township hall is a controversial issue, with residents on both sides of the proposal.
