SCDW opens season with ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop (SCDW) will open its 2009 season at the Rivoli Theatre on May 15 with a two- weekend run of Joseph Kesserling’s classic comedy, “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Follow Mortimer Brewster as he tries to marry the love of his life, only to discover that his two maiden aunts are serial killers, one brother is wanted in several states and the other thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt.

The theatre is at 437 Route 42. Show dates will be Friday and Saturday, May 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 and 24 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens (60 and older) and $7 for students with valid ID. Tickets will be available at the box office one hour prior to curtain for each performance.

The SCDW 2009 season will continue through October, with other productions including “What the Rabbi Saw” and “Agnes of God.” Season tickets, offering admission to all six shows for the price of five, are available for sale through May 23. Throughout the season, on Fridays, people unable to afford regular ticket prices can pay what they can.
