New art gallery opens in Callicoon
CALLICOON, NY Callicoon Fine Arts, a new art gallery, will celebrate its opening on Saturday, May 16 with a reception from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The gallery is located at 27 Lower Main Street on the second floor.
Callicoon Fine Arts is dedicated to exhibiting work by contemporary artists working locally in New York and Pennsylvania, and around the world. Informed by a feeling for the centrality of place in experience, it is the gallerys mission to join rural and urban contexts. Curated group exhibitions and single-artist exhibitions will demonstrate diverse aesthetic commitments, and will present historically significant work by promising emerging artists, and by artists with established careers.
Titled All Suffering Soon to End!, the gallerys first exhibition will contain artworks by Susan Bee, Paul Brainard, Glen Fogel, Elise Freda, Alicia Gibson, Daniel Gordon, Anitra Haendel, Andrew Hershey, Arnold Kemp, Caroline Koebel, Elissa Levy, Jeff Marlin, Paul McMahon, Forrest Myers, Hunter Reynolds, David Scher, Carolee Schneemann, Joshua Thorson and Dimitris Yeros.
The exhibit will run from May 16 to August 15. During that time, additional contributions to the show will be announced.
