New art gallery opens in Callicoon
CALLICOON, NYCallicoon Fine Arts, a new art gallery, will celebrate its opening on Saturday, May 16 with a reception from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The gallery is located at 27 Lower Main Street on the second floor.
Callicoon Fine Arts is dedicated to exhibiting work by contemporary artists working locally in New York and Pennsylvania, and around the world. Informed by a feeling for the centrality of place in experience, it is the gallerys mission to join rural and urban contexts. Curated group exhibitions and single-artist exhibitions will demonstrate diverse aesthetic commitments, and will present historically significant work by promising emerging artists, and by artists with established careers.

SCDW opens season with Arsenic and Old Lace
SOUTH FALLSBURG, NYThe Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop (SCDW) will open its 2009 season at the Rivoli Theatre on May 15 with a two- weekend run of Joseph Kesserlings classic comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace. Follow Mortimer Brewster as he tries to marry the love of his life, only to discover that his two maiden aunts are serial killers, one brother is wanted in several states and the other thinks hes Teddy Roosevelt.

Renoir etching to be auctioned for Humane Society
PORT JERVIS, NY - The Pike County Humane Society will hold a fundraiser at the UpFront exhibition Space at 31 Jersey Avenue from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. To be auctioned off is a 1906 etching by Renoir, "Femme nue assise." Proceeds will go to the needy animals at the Pike County Humane Society. Bidding will open with a $4,000 bid. A certificate of authenticity and appraisal showing a value estimate of $13,495 are included.
