Probing the mysteries of heart and soul

NARROWSBURG, NY — The next Riverfolk concert will feature Karen Savõca and Pete Heitzman, on Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. in the Tusten Theatre.

Playing conga and hand percussion, Savõca infuses the music with her love of soul, R&B and world rhythms. Together she and innovative guitarist Heitzman have been described as a self-contained mini-band with “the fearlessness of a high-wire act working without a net.” It’s an elusive mix, melodic, funky and spontaneous.

The Willamette Weekly of Portland, OR wrote, “Melodic songs that probe the mysteries of heart and soul. One of the most breathtaking live performances I’ve ever experienced,” and Dirty Linen wrote, “An addictive blend of hybrid pop with lots of jazz whimsy and slippery funk.”

Tickets cost $12 in advance, $15 at the door. A portion of the proceeds from all Riverfolk shows benefits WJFF Public Radio and the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
