NACL creates original theatre event for bicentennial

HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — NACL, with support from the Sullivan County Bicentennial Committee, will contribute to Sullivan County’s bicentennial celebration with the creation of a new theatrical work, “The Lost Book of Lakewood House,” to be performed on June 19 and 20 at 8:00 p.m. at the NACL Theatre.

“The Lost Book of Lakewood House” is a site-specific theatre performance that takes place in the 1920s American-gothic church that now houses NACL Theatre. The historic building has had many lives, from a Franciscan church to a hideout for squatters to a home for wayward youth. NACL’s resident theatre company creates a unique and spectacular performance experience, exploring the hidden lives and stories of Sullivan County in its heyday, including tales of gambling, cruising, moonlit boat-rides and summer lovin’.

Tickets cost $15, $10 for students and seniors.

NACL’s state and federal funding was cut 100 percent for 2009, severely limiting the artistic activity of the group this year. Although the group will not be presenting the Catskill Festival of New Theatre this year, it will present an NACL performance this autumn for a two-week run. It is seeking donations to continue to operate. Any amount, great or small, would be appreciated.
