‘Reflections of Days Gone By’

MILFORD, PA — This interesting juxtaposition of landscape, farm equipment and turn-of-the-century fashions is the work of Louis Hensel, a Hawley-based photographer whose images of the Upper Delaware region span the period from 1875 to 1928. It will be part of an exhibit of Hensel’s work at The Columns Museum, “Reflections of Days Gone By,” which will be on display through July 27. There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Hensel’s work was done primarily using five-by-eight-inch glass plates, and unfortunately, much of it was destroyed in a fire. However, the Hawley Library Association, Inc., which owns the remaining 2,000 or so plates, has authorized American Historical Images to scan and print archival photographs of a portion of them.
