A taste for the dramatic at the Alliance

NARROWSBURG, NY — An exhibition of photographs by Chip Forelli will open at the Alliance Gallery at 37 Main Street on Friday, May 15, with an artist’s reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Forelli’s expressive black and white photographs capture the beauty of the outdoors—through trees, barns, flowers and fields—amplifying the drama found in nature.

A group show, “Multiple/Incremental/Repetition,” featuring sculpture, collage, digital photographs and drawings by Richard Cizeski, Nancy Cohen, Dale Emmart and Erin O’Keefe will open in the LOFT Gallery at the same time.

“Similar to the evolution of thought one might have on a rambling solitary walk, a work that is composed of steps bound together by repetitive and constant elements hold attention in a unique way,” said painter Dale Emmart, who curated the show and is exhibiting her work as well.

In selecting the artists for the show, Emmart endeavored to emphasize work that “articulates through metaphors better addressed by expansion, contraction, multiple positions and repetition within boundaries.” The viewer navigates between singular events or sets of multiple relationships.

Both shows will be on view through June 6. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information visit ArtsAllianceSite.org or call 845/252-7576.
