Green Heron alights again with river town romance

NARROWSBURG, NY — Members of the Green Heron Poetry Project and the Upper Delaware Writers Collective will present “The Green Heron,” a radio play in the style of yesteryear written by Jim Stratton, on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the salon-style atmosphere of the Beaverbrook Cottage in Narrowsburg. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

The play’s eponymous detective, The Green Heron, saves the day with eco-friendly sleuthing. The story is described as “a light-hearted river town romance, with intrigue, espionage, an endangered species and mysterious disappearances” and will feature local actors Laura Moran, John Roth, Tom Lisenbee, Penelope Lohr and special guests.

Light refreshments and wine will be provided. There is a suggested donation of $10.

The Green Heron Project, whose theme is “Create the Reality You Are Hoping For,” is made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program for Sullivan County, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. The project also involves a poetry contest, and poems that are selected will become part of several performance pieces this summer and fall.
