ROBERT F. BREWER
Robert F. Brewer of Tanglewood Lakes, Greentown, PA died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at home. He was 85.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Muriel Blanch Cole.
Born June 28, 1923, in Waynesburg, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn J. and Fay (Hickman) Brewer.
He was a graduate of the Air Force Technical School, Yale University, BSIE Penn State and MSIE Lehigh University. During WWII, he inspected P47 Aircrafts. After the war, he worked for Western Electric and later went into private practice.
He completed his own book, Design of Experiments for Process Improvement, which was a finalist for the 1997 Small Press Book Award. He lectured at many colleges and had a great interest in education of young adults. In addition, he was an avid sailor and skier.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Beverly Brewer of Montana and Barbara Lynch and husband Michael of Wisconsin; son Donald Brewer of Wisconsin; stepsons Kenneth Gilmore and wife Beverly of Paupack, PA and Dennis Gilmore and wife Connie of Glen Gardner, NJ; brother James and wife Jane of Waynesburg, PA; sister Marilyn Eichenlaub of Waynesburg; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, PA.

RITA FOLEY CARROLL
Rita Foley Carroll of Matamoras, PA, a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 surrounded by her family at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 90.
She was born September 8, 1918 in Hartford, CT the daughter of the late Patrick D. and the late Ellen Power Foley. She was predeceased by her husband, William Francis Carroll Sr. on May 19, 1971.
Rita was principal owner of the William F. Carroll Agency in Port Jervis, NY for 60 years. She was a member of St. Josephs R.C. Church, Matamoras, where she was also a member of the altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Madonna #114, Port Jervis.
A family statement reads: Rita will be remembered by all who knew her as a warm and caring woman who never judged people but embraced them. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend who welcomed you into her home with a cup of tea. God Bless You, Mom.
Surviving are sons William F. Carroll Jr. and wife Barbara of Matamoras, Declan J. Carroll and wife Mary of Milford, PA, Joseph P. Carroll and wife Patricia of Eldred, NY; daughter, Mary Carroll Favinger and husband Richard of Mohnton, PA; sister Sister Mary Declan Foley of St. Josephs Convent, West Hartford, CT; grandchildren Eileen, Caitlin, Declan, Taryn, William and Bernard Carroll, Joseph and John Favinger, Bryan Williams and wife Kathy Chuck Williams and wife Elyce; two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Eileen Mary Carroll; brothers John Edwin Foley and Declan James Foley; one brother-in-law and one nephew.
A Catholic Daughters Funeral Service was held on Monday, April 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 21, at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josephs R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA with The Rev. August A. Ricciardi officiating. Burial was at St. Marys Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.

ABRAHAM EDELMAN
Abraham Edelman of Monticello, NY, a retired professional waiter in some of New York Citys finest restaurants, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 84.
The son of the late Morris Edelman and Rebecca Oplatka Edelman, he was born March 17, 1925 in Israel.
Abes greatest joy was in helping and giving to others in order to make their lives a little easier. He enjoyed spending time in the library, shopping and people watching. Recently his greatest joy was spending time with his new family and enjoying his grandchildren.
He is survived by sisters-in-law Sylvia Edelman of Long Island and Marion Edelman of Elizabeth, NJ; and his adopted family, Thomas and Debra Larsen of Monticello; Heather, Burt, Tremper, Austin and Adelaide Dymond of Thompsonville, NY; Michael, Jolene and Amanda Larsen of Warwick, NY; Jonathan and Aidan Burgess of Buffalo and Amaya Burgess of Cochecton, NY; and Thomas Jr., Danielle & Devin Larsen of Clearwater, FL.
He was predeceased by two brothers: Isaac and Meyer Edelman.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 16 at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, with Rabbi Michelle Medwin officiating. Burial was made in the Temple Sholom Cemetery on Southwoods Drive in Monticello.

LORI A. EDWARDS
Lori A. Edwards of Neversink, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at home with her loving family by her side. She was 49.
The daughter of the late Ludwig and Frieda Scherer Grupp, she was born August 6, 1959 in Queens, NY.
Lori graduated from Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School in 1977 as the salutatorian of her class. She received a BA from the University of Rochester and worked in the insurance industry for many years. In recent years she served as a substitute teacher at the Tri-Valley Central School. She is best remembered as a homemaker and loving mother and wife. She also enjoyed arts, crafts and puzzles. Lori was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Jeffersonville, NY, and served several terms on the church council. She also served as a trustee for the Daniel Pierce Library and was active in the Tri-Valley school system.
Lori is survived by her husband Brian at home; children Kimberly, Charles, Brandon and Jonathan, all at home; brother Paul Grupp and wife Sharon of East Rockaway, NY; sister Luanne Ritz and fiancé Neil Muccio of Lake Huntington, NY; nephews and nieces.
Services were held on Sunday, April 19, at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Woodbourne, NY with The Rev. Kit Robison officiating.

WILLIAM A. MCCORT
Willam A. McCort of Eldred, NY a retired New York City Steamfitter, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at home. He was 84.
The son of the late Joseph and Helena Thannhauser McCort, he was born in New York City on March 23, 1925.
William was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, NY. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3701 and a life member of the Elks 878 in Queens, NY. He was a union member of the Steamfitters Local 638. He was a World War II Navy Veteran.
Everyone loved their Bubba.
William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances McGrath McCort; his five brothers and sisters; 30 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
William is predeceased by five brothers and sisters.

HEIDI G. MORSE
Heidi G. Morse of Narrowsburg, NY, an office manager for Narrowsburg Dental Laboratory and a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 in a car accident in Mongaup Valley, NY. She was 46.
The daughter of Rolf and Edith Dreiucker Heinemeier, she was born December 18, 1962 in Princeton, NJ.
Heidi was a member of Liberty Free Methodist Church, Liberty, NY where she was a Sunday School teacher and special to her Share Our Stories Women Group.
A family statement reads: Heidi was a loving wife, mother and daughter. Heidi loved her childrens music. She was an avid walker who loved the outdoors. She had a passion for art. She loved the King of Kings. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Timothy A. Morse; two sons, Andrew Morse and wife Libby of New Jersey and Jesse Timothy Morse of Narrowsburg; her parents of Narrowsburg; sister Janet Syre and husband James of Lackawaxen, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty Free Methodist Church, Liberty, NY. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.

DOROTHY M. PALMER
Dorothy M. Palmer of Sparrowbush, NY and a longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was 91.
She was born August 23, 1917 in Kenoza Lake, NY, the daughter of the late John and the late Mary Hubbard Bernhardt. She was married to Russell J. Palmer, who died April 26, 2003.
She was a member of St. James the Greater RC Church, Montague, NJ and a former member of the Sparrowbush Fire Department Ladies Auxillary.
Survivors include her son, Russell E. Palmer of Sparrowbush; daughter Mary M. Jones and husband, David of Homosassas, FL; brother Floyd Bernhardt and wife Gert of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters; and sister-in-law Mary Barbarino.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 1:00 p.m. in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Old Cahoonzie Road, Sparrowbush, with Rev. Wayne Varga officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.

FLOYD RICKER JR
Floyd Ricker Jr., loving husband of Norma (Annunziata) of 61 years, joined his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 18, 2009 following a brief illness at Stratton VA Hospital, Albany, NY. He was 80.
Born in Wanaque, NJ to the late Ruth and Floyd Ricker, Sr., Mr. Ricker was a resident of Sparrowbush, NY for 25 years.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a longtime self-employed building contractor and a former board member and parishioner at the Hamburg Assembly of God Church, Hamburg, NJ.
Mr. Ricker is survived by sons Wayne of Williamsburg, VA, Glenn of Gordonville, PA and Ronald of Sparrowbush, daughters Karen Thiel of Dingmans Ferry, PA and Donna Ricker of Sparrowbush; sisters Doris Hoefgen of Sparrowbush and Janet Lasslett of Wantage, NJ; brother Richard of Pontiac, MI; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Holmes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Thursday, April 23, at the Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale, NJ. Interment will follow at the Pompton Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Lakes, NJ.

JAMES RUBEL
James Rubel of Bangor, PA, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 in Easton, PA. He was 54.
The son of Edward Rubel and the late Patricia Rubel, he was born March 10, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY.
He was a stationary engineer and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #30.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Rubel; children Daniel and Christy Rubel; and father Edward Rubel of Cochecton, NY.
A memorial service will be held on Long Island at a future date.
