Academy-award winner ‘The Reader’ featured at CineArt

CALLICOON, NY — CineArt, a joint program of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) and the Callicoon Theater, will present “The Reader,” starring Kate Winslet in the role that earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress, from Friday, April 24 through Tuesday, April 28. Screenings are at 7:30 p.m. each day plus 2:00 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

In post-WWII Germany, nearly a decade after his affair with an older woman came to a mysterious end, a law student re-encounters his former lover as she defends herself in a war-crime trial. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes and David Kross.

“It is hard to overstate the impact Winslet makes,” said Kenneth Turan of The Los Angeles Times. Winslet also took home the Golden Globe for this role.

Admission costs $8, except Monday when it is $6. A percentage of the profits and $1 per person from ticket sales benefit the programs and services of the DVAA.
