Presby Players present ‘Heartsongs’

PORT JERVIS, NY — “Heartsongs - An Evening of Poetry and Wisdom by Mattie Stepanek” will be presented at Marsh Hall, First Presbyterian Church, 60 Sussex Street on April 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and April 26 at 3:00 pm. Presented by Presby Players and The American Readers Theatre, the show was conceived and directed by Jeffrey Stocker. It is performed by young actors ages eight to 14 of his Dramatic Reading Workshop. The program was first presented on April 9 in New York City at the National Arts Club.

Young Mattie Stepank was a poet, peacemaker and philosopher who had a book on The New York Times Bestseller List at the age of five. Born with Dysautonomic Mitochrondrial Myopathy, Mattie wrote five books before he died at the age of 13. His fans included President Jimmy Carter, Oprah, Larry King, Maya Angelou and Jerry Lewis.
