Juniors ice victory, hex sophomores’ three-peat bid

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY—For high school students, there’s no shortage of serious matters to reckon with. School is challenging and pressures to succeed mount as college applications loom. The world at large seems to be crumbling around them, and their adolescent years are rife with immense personal and social issues.

Even athletic activities, which many turn to for release, are serious enterprises that create their own tensions. What these kids need?in fact, what we all need from time to time?is just plain fun.

Lady Bears set tone at Panther Relays

WALLKILL, NY—For the Tri-Valley girls, blustery temperatures in the 40s and high winds were no deterrent as they soundly beat all small-school comers in the Panther Relays held on April 5. Evincing their strengths in distance relays and, in particular, in throwing events, Tri-Valley out-pointed Fonda Fultonville 209.5 to 109.

Other Section Nine Division II teams present included Chester, Rhinebeck, Ellenville, Highland and Marlboro. Ellenville was tops among Division II boys. Tri-Valley took sixth overall in the boys meet.

Honor bound

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY—Pledging to maintain the high standards of character, scholarship, leadership and service that made them eligible for induction into Sullivan West Chapter of the National Honor Society, 37 new inductees holding their candles aloft, received their official entry into the prestigious society on March 31.

Prior to the delicious dinner served by Jill’s Kitchen in the school cafeteria, students, faculty and guests were welcomed by adviser Patricia Hawker and vice president Julianne Reggero.
