EDWIN O. BARRIGER

Edwin O. Barriger of Abrahamsville, PA, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA.

He was married to Janet Schweighofer Barriger.

Edwin was the son of the late Leslie and Hattie Howell Barriger. He served in the United States Army during the occupation of Germany. Edwin was a retired farmer and groundskeeper at the Villa Roma Golf Course. He was an avid flower gardener and bird lover. Edwin enjoyed music and played the piano. He was a member of the Abrahamsville Methodist Church.

He is survived by two step-children, Connie Petraitis and Lynn Thompson of Honesdale; a granddaughter, Katlynne Thompson, Honesdale; a sister-in-law, Shirley Barriger of Abrahamsville; a brother-in-law, Bill Ward of Akron, NY; a nephew, Lloyd Barriger of Abrahamsville; four nieces, Linda Barriger of Abrahamsville, Lillian Weigelt of Abrahamsville, Victoria Conkling of Walton, NY and Mary Ellen Brucker of Akron, NY; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Barriger; and a sister, Nora Mae Ward.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Abrahamsville United Methodist Church, 623 Callicoon Road, Damascus, PA 18415.


THOMAS J. NORRIS

Thomas J. Norris of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 95.

He was born on August 27, 1913 in Montague, NJ, the son of the late Robert and Fannie Monds Norris.

Tom was a retired electrician and plumber for The John Innella Building Co., Sparrowbush, NY. He was married to Marion Tooley Norris, who predeceased him.

Tom proudly served our country with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy Obermeyer and her husband Jim of Glen Spey, NY and Carol Talmadge and her husband Van of Red Hook, NY; grandchildren Sonia Quintanar, Leah Casterlin and Colin Talmadge and his wife, Kamila; and several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Doris Shevlin of Montague, NJ.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Stacy Norris-Quintanar; several sisters and brothers; and his beloved dog Rex.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, PA.
