Monticello Rotary presents star search

MONTICELLO, NY — The Monticello Rotary Club, Re/Max Depot Real Estate and Petcare Animal Hospital will sponsor Star Search, an annual talent show and contest that this year has a bicentennial twist. Also contributing to this year’s event are Thunder 102, Monticello Gaming & Raceway and The River Reporter.

The show will be open to two age groups. Ages 14-18 will compete for first- and second-place scholarships of $500 and $150. Ages 19 and up will compete for first- and second-place cash prizes of $500 and $150. First-place winners will also perform at several of the planned Sullivan County Bi-Centennial shows scheduled for the spring and summer.

Star Search will be presented in the Hype Room at Monticello Gaming and Raceway, on Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. The net proceeds of this event will be donated back into the community through the many programs of the Monticello Rotary Club.

For greater community involvement this year, the Monticello High School’s Interact Club (high school extension of the Rotary) will join in the search for new talent. Thunder 102’s Mike Sakell and Paul Ciliberto will host the show, and this year’s judges will be Patti Greco Sunshine, Carlos Gonzalez and Scott Samuelson.
