Lady Bears set tone at Panther Relays
Defending Section Nine champs top competing small schools at Wallkill

WALLKILL, NY For the Tri-Valley girls, blustery temperatures in the 40s and high winds were no deterrent as they soundly beat all small-school comers in the Panther Relays held on April 5. Evincing their strengths in distance relays and, in particular, in throwing events, Tri-Valley out-pointed Fonda Fultonville 209.5 to 109.
Other Section Nine Division II teams present included Chester, Rhinebeck, Ellenville, Highland and Marlboro. Ellenville was tops among Division II boys. Tri-Valley took sixth overall in the boys meet.
Top finishers included:
Girls: 400, (1:19.50) fourth place by Amanda Martin. 4x100 throwers relay, (1:01.7) first place by Tehnyat Kahn, Kaitlyn Torres, Kaitlyn Exner and Kelly McNamara. Freshman/sophomore 4x400 relay, (5:15.40) fourth place by Caroline Bertholf, Sarah Heikkenin, Ashley Weintraub and Naomi Weise. 3x1500 relay, (16:44.60) fourth place by Bertholf, Sanborn and Hornbeck. 4x 800 relay. (1:21.90) fifth place by Bertholf, Shannon Hornbeck, Sanborn and Sarah Heikkenin. Distance medley B, (14:33.40) third place by Bertholf, Sanborn, Hornbeck and Agnes Pompeii. 3x100 shuttle relay, (1:00.80) fifth with Martin, Sarah Schneyer and Kristin Offringa. High jump, (4-03) seventh by Karyn Sheeley. Freshman/sophomore high jump, (4-03) second with Pompeii and fifth with Offringa (4-00). Freshman/sophomore long jump, (13-10.50) fifth by Mareena DiMilia. Long jump, (13-08.50) fifth by Torres. Freshman/sophomore triple jump, (30-02.25), third by DiMilia. Freshman/sophomore shot put, (28-04) second by Dominique Darby. Shot put, (30-07) first by Kelly McNamara, Khan second ( 30-00.50), Torres, fourth (28-00.50), Danielle Darby (27-06.75) fifth. Discus, (94-11) Khan, first place. Javelin, (75-11) second place by Darby, (61-05) fifth place by Martin.
Boys: freshman/sophomore shot put Brian Edwards (35-08) took first place. Shot put Bob Fiedler (42-00) took eighth. In discus, Fielder (114-02) took fifth place.
