RYOT bonfire sparks healing

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Safe Haven’s Youth Leadership group Rallying Youth Organizing Together Against Rape and all Forms of Abuse (RYOT) will host a bonfire and community event to kick off April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month on Saturday, March 28. The event will be held at Camp Akenac in Dingmans Ferry from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be music, drumming, poetry reading and guest speakers.

Among the guest speakers will be Mike Lew, M.Ed., highly regarded worldwide in the field of adult male recovery from childhood sexual abuse. He is a counselor, teacher, lecturer and has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show among others. Maxwell Kofi Donkor, an internationally known award-winning sculptor, master drummer and teacher, will also be a speaker, as will Pennsylvania representative John Siptroth and Ileana Hernandez, a supervisor of Delaware Township. Admission is free and all are welcome and encouraged to participate in RYOT Sparks A Healing.

Safe Haven, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to restoring dignity to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Safe Haven provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, 570/296-4357 (HELP), staffed by certified volunteers who have completed a 60-hour crisis intervention training course.
