Puppy tormentors sought

HAMLIN, PA — Humane Society Police Officer Marlene Metzger and state dog warden Jim Rickert are seeking any information on the person or persons who sealed a puppy’s mouth shut with duct tape and abandoned the 12-to 16-week-old hound mix. The pup was later found in a stream in the Hamlin Area, suffering from hypothermia and severely underweight. He is recovering at the Carbondale Veterinary Hospital.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender. The officers are also looking for information on any possible littermates of this pup. Anyone with information is urged to call Metzger at 570/647-0239.

The incident is the latest in a series of Wayne County cruelty cases that have included cats, kittens, dogs, horses and rabbits.
