A whiz of a ‘Wiz’ it was

ELDRED, NY—When it comes to spring, the play’s the thing in many of the Sullivan County school districts, especially in March, Music in Our Schools Month. This past weekend, rapt audiences at Eldred were transported over the rainbow, as the school’s drama club delivered a visually entrancing version of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz,” directed by Joshua Poston.

At left, Dorothy (Karlie Contrera) explains to Good Witch Glinda (Ahsley Horton) how her house got swept up into a tornado. Below, Amadur Laput as the Scarecrow, right, sings “If I Only Had a brain,” accompanied by Dorothy, who has suggested that they go together to visit the Wizard of Oz.

Randall Williams featured at next Riverfolk

NARROWSBURG, NY—Randall Williams will be featured at the next Riverfolk concert, to be held on Sunday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the Tusten Town Hall.

“Randall Williams explodes onto the scene like a bolt of lightning. It’s rare that a honey-toned tenor carries as much force as Williams. Combine that voice with highly articulate guitar work and superlative songs for a most powerful presence,” wrote Sing-Out Magazine.

The setting is ripe for friendliness turning into treachery, piety into debauchery, sinners into saints, love into lust and numerous variations.
