By RICHARD A. ROSS
LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY Indoor track has now given way to its outdoor successor. But in one final gesture to acknowledge Sullivan Wests girls remarkable season, which included a 21-0 OCL Division V Championship, the Sullivan County Championship and the Section Nine Class B title, the Sullivan West School District Board of Education invited the team for special recognition on March 12.
After being heartily welcomed and praised by superintendent Dr. Kenneth Hilton, team members introduced themselves and enumerated their events. Recently won plaques and trophies were proudly held. Those treasures rest in the trophy case outside of the gymnasium. A banner commemorating their achievements will join other championship banners on the wall in the gym.

Liz Peters, 300, long jump and 4x200 relay was not present. Also missing was Stephany Robison, 3000, 1500 and 4x800 relay.
Coach Joe Seidl said that counting the previous winter, last spring and this recent indoor season, the Sullivan West girls had won 36 consecutive meets. Theyre a hardworking group. They went into this season with a goal in mind and they accomplished it. Seidl was referring to the schools first-ever Section Nine track title.
The majority of the team is underclassmen. We have four seniors but I expect this team to be competitive for a number of years to come, said Seidl.
