Delectable doings at CDCs Chefs Do
MATAMORAS, PA The Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDC) will hold its 11th annual Chefs Do Dinner on Tuesday, March 24 at The Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing.
The event is an evening of gourmet foods prepared by a dozen or more area chefs, in the same dining room, on the same night. Your plate can be filled as often as you like with whatever you choose. There is a cash bar and musical entertainment throughout the evening.
Diners are treated to a smorgasbord of canapés, entrees, side dishes and desserts provided by area chefs. Last years feast included hors doeuvres (prepared by La Gorille), Spicy Pulled Pork Stew (The Muir House), Eggplant Rolletini (Frettas Italian Food Specialties), Chicken with Feta Cheese and Spinach (Laurel Villa Country Inn), Sliced Prime Rib on Garlic Crostini with a horseradish Cream Sauce (Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing), The Blue Parrot Salmon and Spinach Quesadillas (The Blue Parrot Taqueria), Black Laquer Duck on Won-Ton Crisp (The Settlers Inn) and a host of other delights including desserts.
Diners may sample as many dishes as they like by visiting each chefs cooking station, which gives the opportunity to see some of the delicious food being prepared and to chat with the chefs themselves. The cash bar opens at 5:30. Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.
In keeping with its mission of providing early educational services for children born with developmental challenges, the CDC honors a Childrens Champion each year. This years honoree will be Marion Almquist, who is a registered nurse and family service coordinator for the center, as well as one of its original founders.
Tickets cost $75 per person. For more information call 570/296-3992.
