Inventions in ice

LAKEVILLE, PA — Eight professional ice carvers competed at Crystal Cabin Fever for prizes on February 21. Carvings were judged by a representative from the National Ice Carving Association on qualities including design, artistic merit, attention to detail and finished appearance. Seen at left is the sculpture that won first prize, by Chad Gasiorek of Shohola, PA, titled “Food Chain.” Second-place winner was Neil Trimper, of Branchville, NJ, who carved a crane over 100 inches tall, seen at right.
