Audubon announces scholarship

NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA — The Northeast Pennsylvania Audubon Society will offer a $4,000 college scholarship to students who wish to pursue a career in one of the environmental sciences. The applicants must be from Pike, Wayne, Lackawanna or Susquehanna county and must enroll in a degree program in a full-time accredited college or university. The winning applicant will receive $1,000 per year for four years.

“Environmental careers will be increasingly important as we face challenges from global climate change and diminishing resources, and one of our key objectives is to further this education,” said Chris Weigand, co-chair of Audubon’s scholarship committee. The annual Audubon Arts and Craft Festival provides the funds for the scholarship. The deadline for applications is April 1.
