Artists sought to portray Sullivan’s towns

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The Sullivan County Bicentennial Committee is soliciting local artists to participate in their 2009 Bicentennial Celebration. Each artist is to create a canvas- or watercolor-based piece representative of one of the 15 townships of Sullivan County, capable of being hung vertically for a mobile art show. Currently, the committee seeks artists to depict the townships of Bethel, Fallsburg, Forestburgh, Fremont, Liberty, Lumberland, Thompson and Tusten.

Artists chosen for this project will be assigned a township according to their preferences whenever possible, and will received a standard-sized canvas and up to $75 worth of supplies.

The “Bicentennial Scenes” Mobile Art Show, with information about each artist’s background and local studio space, will travel throughout Sullivan County for the 2009 Sullivan County Bicentennial Celebration. All commissioned pieces will be auctioned off at a silent auction, with the proceeds going to benefit the artistic and cultural endeavors of the 2009 Bicentennial Celebration.
