River advocate recognized

PORT JERVIS, NY — When he’s not out enjoying the natural resources of the Upper Delaware River region, retired educator and columnist Phil Chase can usually be found fighting on their behalf. Chase was recently recognized as a “Hero of Conservation” by Field and Stream magazine and profiled in that publication for his long-time advocacy. The announcement was celebrated at the recent Upper Delaware Council (UDC) meeting on February 5. Chase serves on the UDC as a representative for the Town of Deerpark. He has been recognized in the past as The Federation of Flyfishers Man of the Year and the Tri-County Sportsman of the Year. He currently serves as a director of Friends of the Upper Delaware River.
