Crawford launches online book club

MONTICELLO, NY — E.B. Crawford Library has a new service: a free online book club that delivers books electronically. Each day, Monday through Friday, the library emails subscribers a portion of a book that takes about five minutes to read. By the end of the week they’ll have read two or three chapters from a book. And if they like it, they can place a hold on the book online and then come into the library to check it out. Each week the library features new books.

There are 11 book clubs to choose from, including fiction, nonfiction, romance, business, good news, science fiction, teen and mystery. Members can listen to audio books in their email, and there’s even a Prepublication Club, which will let you read books in your email before they’re even published.

Some of the authors whose works were emailed over the past two weeks are Richard Matheson, Maeve Binchy, Shirley Jackson, Nevada Barr, Andre Norton, James Patterson and Rosina Lippi.

You can sign up for the service at the library during library hours or any time at rcls.org/mtc/. Click on the Online Book Clubs icon on the home page.
