Christine Lavin featured at Riverfolk for Valentine’s Day

MILANVILLE, PA—For Valentines Day, the Riverfolk concert series at Calkins Creek Vineyard will present singer-songwriter-entertainer Christine Lavin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Lavin threads her pop/folk songs into the plot of a smart and witty theatre-concert. Billboard wrote, “Lavin is as captivating an artist in solo performance as there is today.” “People find their life in her songs,” wrote the Boston Globe, and the Washington Post said, “Lavin keeps her audience thinking, laughing and guessing at the same time.”

Fire department holds ice fishing contest

HURLEYVILLE, NY—The Hurleyville Fire Department, in cooperation with the Town of Fallsburg Youth Commission, will hold its 21st annual ice fishing contest on Saturday, February 14. The contest will take place on Morningside Lake off Brickman Road in Hurleyville from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sign up for ski-race fun

ROCK HILL, NY—The second annual YMCA/Rock Hill Fire Department Ski Race will be held on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28 at the Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park. Fees for firefighter and business teams are $200 for pre-registration, $250 after Friday, February 13. The fee for youth teams (ages nine through 15) is $125. Snowboarders are welcome to enter the race.

Festivities will start on Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception for all prepaid teams and their families. At 9:00 p.m. there will be a torch parade and fireworks, open to the public.
