Racers rocket out of Holiday Mountain start shack; Haley and Ryan Heins tops from Sullivan County

BRIDGEVILLE, NY - The new era began on January 20 as Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States, amid great hope for a new start.

Late in the day, skiers from area schools celebrated their own new start, as they rocketed out of the newly opened start gate atop the 25-foot-high shack at Holiday Mountain.

Snow conditions were fast with packed powder for the Giant Slalom races featuring skiers from Onteora, Rondout Valley, Kingston, Monticello, Sullivan West, Liberty, Fallsburg/Tri-Valley and Middletown.

GOSHEN, NY - “All the world’s a stage. And all the men and women merely players,” wrote Shakespeare in “As You Like It.”

The Bard’s global assessment of life as theatre in which we play our given roles certainly applies to basketball. In the theatre on the hardwood, each player must understand his or her role and execute it well. Inevitably, great performances have their stars. But, it is the responsibility of the entire cast to evoke a seamless enactment that will garner the approval of the audience and critics.

WEST POINT, NY—The hard work is paying off and the cream is rising to the top. In just three weeks, the OCIAA league meet will have its day.

A week later, the Section Nine Championships will grab the headlines, followed by the state qualifier and states, as the indoor track and field season winds down.

Across the board, athletes are looking forward to spring and an end to the grueling rigors of indoor, all the while acknowledging the value of these winter endeavors.
