‘Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead’

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance’s (WCAA) Sunday Night Cinema Series will present “Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead” on February 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce’s Community Room, 32 Commercial Street.

Part black comedy and philosophic discourse, “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern” focuses on the travails of two minor characters from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” It features actors Oldman and Roth as two off-kilter rogues who are summoned to the court of the King of Denmark, where they meet a traveling entertainer and attempt to solve a mystery. Based on Tom Stoppard’s play, this film won Best Picture at the 1991 Venice Film Festival.
