LOUISE C. GREENING

Louise C. Greening of Glen Spey, NY, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008, at Milford Senior Care, Westfall Township, PA. She was 91.

She was born May 7, 1917 in Glen Spey, NY, the daughter of the late John and Margaret Fahlbusch Weber. Louise married John Herbert Greening.

She is survived by her sister, Agnes Rhoades of Port Jervis, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; brothers Louis, John and Francis Weber; and sisters Margaret Kinne and Caroline Quick.

Graveside services were held Monday, December 29 at Old Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, NY, with The Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.

RICHARD WILLIAM JOHNSON

Richard William Johnson of Holladay, TN, a former resident of Cochecton, NY, passed away in Jackson, TN on December 25, 2008 He was 77.

He was born in Matamoras, PA on January 18, 1931 to the late William and Bernadine Johnson.

He was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight. He was an avid Yankee fan.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Ann Taylor of Holladay, TN; daughters Debra J. Reimer and husband Thomas of Hortonville, NY and Denise J. Marcella and husband Christopher of Altamont, NY; three step-children, Linda Duff and Edward Jacobson, both of Holladay, and Michael Hulbert of Amesbury, MA; sisters Janette Fredd and husband Carl and Jeannine Rolla and husband Ronald of Texas; five grandchildren, Shane and Jamie Marcella, Brendan and Delaney Hulbert and Kailey Duffy; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard is predeceased by his first wife, Jean Winglovitz.

Friends are invited to call for a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY, 12764.

Burial of the cremains will be in spring in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, PA.

STEPHAN LADANAJ

Stephan Ladanaj of Glen Spey, NY died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at his home. He was 87.

He was born May 9, 1921 in Ukraine, the son of the late Stephan and Anna Makar Ladanaj. He was married to his wife, Ludmilla Bawilowska Ladanaj, for 55-and-a-half years.

He worked as a mechanic for his family’s business for 35 years in New Jersey. He was a member of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey. A family statement reads: “He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Singing was his passion. He sang in many church choirs and was a member of a Glen Spey Choral group. He was a wonderful gardener and a voracious reader on all subjects.”

Survivors include his wife at home; one son, Stephan Ladanaj of Kyev, UK; one daughter, Liza and her husband Dr. Mark Boguniewicz of Denver, CO; and four grandchildren, Juri, Alex, Kris and Greg.

He was predeceased by his nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 2, with a Liturgy Mass in St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating. Burial was at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, So. Bound Brook, NJ.

BRIANNA GWENDOLYN NEDD

Brianna Gwendolyn Nedd of Monticello, NY died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Aaron J. Nedd and Nicole L. Gilbert, she was born August 18, 2008 in Port Jervis, NY.

Although she was only here a short while, Brianna brought much joy and happiness into her parents’ lives. She was a beautiful and loving baby who stole the hearts of all she had the opportunity to meet. Brianna will be deeply missed by all.

Brianna is survived by her parents, at home; her great-great grandmother, Mildred Gilbert of Port Jervis; great grandparents David and Dona Bertsch of Yulan, NY, Kenneth and Terry Gilbert of Texas and Nellie Beazer of Manhattan; grandparents Wade and Colleen Meerdink and Surbrook and Beverly Nedd; aunts Kimberly Gilbert, Marissa Meerdink, Carmen, Skeeter, Mahalia and Diamond Nedd; and uncles Sylvester, Jahreek and Dameion Nedd.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 5 at the First Baptist Church, Main Street in South Fallsburg, NY, with the Rev. Norman R. Graves Sr. from New Beginnings Community Worship Center, Inc. in Liberty officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.


FRANK POJE

Frank Poje, late of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, PA. He was 85.

Frank was born on April 9, 1923 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Anton and Frances Poje.

Frank married Aileen Markle Poje, who predeceased him on November 30, 2005.

He was a retired maintenance worker for Georgia-Pacific Company, Warwick, NY and an active member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Pond Eddy, NY.

He is survived by brothers George Poje of Hudson, FL and John Poje of Parsippany, NJ; sister Lucy Normoyl; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Tuesday, January 6 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church with Rev. Anthony Moore as celebrant. Interment took place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Eldred, NY.

KARL WEBER

Karl Weber of Barryville, NY, a former resident of Roscoe Nursing Home and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at home. He was 83.

His wife of 62 years, Anna Mueller Weber, survives.

The son of the late Karl and Aloisia Gruber Weber, he was born April 25, 1925 in Czechoslovakia.

Karl was a retired machinist for American Can Co., Hillside, NJ, and also from Narrowsburg Lumber Company, Shohola, PA. He was a member of St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Shohola. A family statement reads, “Karl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved bowling, woodworking and the outdoors. He will greatly be missed by his family and all that knew him.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Marianne Yeaw and husband Kenneth of Shohola; son Karl P. Weber and wife Catherine of Maplewood, NJ; grandson Justin Weber; great granddaughter Rose Weber; and stepsister Johanna Hetzer of Germany.

Karl is predeceased by stepsisters Katherina Benner and Stefanie Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday January 6, 2009 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church with Father Thomas Major officiating. Christian burial took place in the parish cemetery.
