Barn quilts adorn Neversink calendars

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Neversink Renaissance has released its 2009 Barn Quilts Calendar, which features photographs depicting many of the barn quilts that have been placed on the historic barns of the town by hundreds of local volunteers. Designed by Carolyn Bivins, the calendar celebrates the residents whose pride in their community and spirit of volunteerism can be seen across the township. It is dedicated to Terry Forshay, a master gardener, community organizer and barn quilt painter who passed away earlier this year.

To view the pictures and see the locations of all of the Town of Neversink Barn Quilts, go to townofneversink.org . Calendars are available for purchase at the Neversink town hall and the Daniel Pierce Library.

Organizers Dave and Phyllis Moore are already organizers next year’s calendar. “Once again, we ask that community members keep their cameras handy for those beautiful seasonal shots.”

Photos for the 2010 calendar—including winter snow scenes and spring blossom shots—will be accepted any time from now through August 15. Submissions may be made in print form or digitally (300 DPI or better).

For more information call 845/985-2746.
