Winter Lights festival to warm up the heart of Milford

MILFORD, PA—Milford will play host to the Ice Theatre of New York just before they fly off to Paris as the main event during the weeklong festival, Winter Lights-Celebrating the Arts. The festival will feature ice skating, ice sculptures and magic, along with theater and films, beginning Saturday, January 24, 2009. It will begin with a parade, along with the Ice Theatre of New York’s performance of “Appalachia Waltz,” and will conclude on Saturday, January 31. The Marie Zimmermann Center for the Arts, led by Michael Carson, in cooperation with Milford Borough Parks and Recreation Committee, is developing the festival.

Helping hands

National Honor Society purchases gifts

HONESDALE, PA—Members of the Honesdale High School National Honor Society purchased gifts for 20 children registered with the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau. The students had fun purchasing gifts for the kids knowing that because of their effort, families in need will have a better Christmas. Santa Claus faces tough times in ‘Santanomics’

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—WJFF’s Youth Radio Project (YRP) has created an original radio play, called “Santanomics,” first broadcast on WJFF on Christmas Eve on Radio Revolution, WJFF’s weekly teen radio program. The play can be heard in the archives at wjff radio.org.

Santanomics pits Santa Claus against tough financial times, and the results are hilarious. It starts with laid-off elves and winds up with a government bailout of the North Pole.
