Video installation evokes home for the holidays

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society (CAS) Arts Center is currently hosting Home for the Holidays, a night-time video installation created by Livingston Manor artist Glenn Church. The exhibition is on view seven days a week between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the windows of Gallery Two at the center, located at 48 Main Street. Using a custom-built model and miniature visual equipment, Home for the Holidays highlights the present financial crisis this Christmas. However, by the seasonal content that still flickers on the television, through the abandoned windows, we are reminded of the spirit of cooperation and collectivity to overcome hardship.

Glenn Church completed a BA in art, design, media and film at the University of Winchester (United Kingdom) from 1996-2000, with a special concentration in mixed media interaction through the use of sculpture and early experiments with sound and form, and their joint participation. These experiments culminated in a further BA in multimedia at the University of Brighton (UK) from 2003-2006. He has also studied for an MA in 18th Century Studies, at the University of York (UK) specializing in the work and life of the artist William Blake. In addition, Church has worked in the fields of graphic design and sound and art therapy where he instructed special needs adults and children. In September of 2006 he moved from the southeast of England to New York, where he currently resides in Livingston Manor.

Catskill Art Society is a non-profit cultivating public interest, participation and enjoyment of the arts. Through its multi-arts center, CAS explores contemporary art practices and facilitates creative and professional development for established and emerging artists.
