ALFRED NIGH BOWEN
Alfred Nigh Bowen of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired black-topper for Young Oils, entered into rest November 27, 2008 at Catskill Regional Hospital. He was 71.
The son of George and Elsie Smith Bowen, he was born March 23, 1937 in Newburgh, NY.
Survivors include his two daughters, Dian Fazekas and Lisa Bowen; two brothers, Charles Ed Bowen and wife Joan and George Chili Bowen and wife Kathy; and one sister, Hazel Godwin.
A funeral service was held Friday, December 12 at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc., Newburgh, NY. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
CHRISTOPHER ROBERT COLGAN
Christopher Robert Colgan of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 39.
He was born February 1, 1969 in New York City, the son of Robert P. and Nilda Da Costa Gomez Colgan.
A family statement reads: Christopher was a beloved son, brother, uncle and nephew. If you needed help, call Chris.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Nilda Colgan of Sparrowbush, NY; sister Jennifer Anderson and husband Scott of Barryville, NY; brother-in-law Jonathan Gibbs of Branchville, NJ; nieces and nephew Kimberlee Gibbs, Julia and Owen Anderson.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lisa Gibbs.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 12 at Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name R.C. Church, Otisville, NY with Rev. Peter Tran Van Phat officiating.
Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.
WILLIAM J. DENIS
William J. Denis of Beach Lake PA, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 82.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen M. Cavallo. They were married for 63 years.
William was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Alfred and Agnes Mulhern Denis.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII. William worked for many years as an automobile mechanic. He was of the Catholic faith. William was an avid golfer and a quiet, kind, gentle man and a loving husband and father.
He is survived by three sons, William J. Denis Jr. and wife Connie of Staten Island, NY, James Denis and wife Lore of Honesdale, and Charles Denis and wife Stephanie of Hamburg, PA; two daughters, Terry Costa and husband Sal of Beach Lake and Carol Durando of Beach Lake; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in St. Marys Catholic Church, Honesdale.
Burial followed in the St. Marys Cemetery, Honesdale.

MAE FEINGOLD ROTH
Mae Feingold Roth, formerly of Jeffersonville, NY, died on Friday, December 12, 2008 in St. Vincents Hospital in New York City.
Mae was born in the Bronx, NY. She spent much of her childhood in North Branch, NY at the Woodland House, her parents hotel. She raised her family in Jeffersonville, while running the family business, Roths Laundry, with her husband Arthur. Her gracious hospitality and love of people made her home, the Blue Victorian of Jeffersonville, and later, her home in New York City, a center for friends and family. There was always room for more guests at her table.
Her sparkle and joy of life drew people to her. She maintained close relationships for 92 years, despite time and distance. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Matthew and Barbara Roth of Florida, Jessica and Paul Jones, MD of Forestburgh, NY and Amy Roth and Bill Kyburz of New York City; nine grandchildren and their spouses; three great-grandsons; her sister, Jean Euben of North Carolina; and her brother, Hi Frank of Florida.
Mae was predeceased by her husband Arthur; and by daughters Tina Roth and Ellen Roth Reisman.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 14, in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY. Rabbi Michelle Medwin officiated. Burial will be in the Jeffersonville Hebrew Cemetery, State Route 52 between Jeffersonville and Youngsville, NY.
AUDREY ANN SPIESS
Audrey Ann Spiess passed away Saturday night, December 6, 2008, at her residence in Frisco, NC. She was 70.
Mrs. Spiess was born March 24, 1938 in Honesdale, PA, the daughter of the late Walton Bryant and Irene Jensen Bryant. She will be remembered for her love of crafts and painting.
She is survived by a sister, Phyllis Newport of Lookout, PA; by her husband, Marvin A. Spiess at home; two daughters, Cindi Erhardt of Honesdale, PA and Kimber Bayly of Beach Lake, PA; three sons, Randy Tyler and Wayde Tyler, both of Honesdale, PA and Mark Spiess of Frisco, NC; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Lyndon Bryant and Wilbur Bryant.
A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
