Monticello YMCA Basketball League begins its first year

MONTICELLO, NY — The YMCA Basketball League will inaugurate its first season, which begins in January 2009. Registration began on November 29.

The league is a five-on-five adult recreational league that plays Sundays at the Monticello Central School gymnasiums. Teams will play one to two games a week. The regular season consists of a minimum 14-game schedule, with a playoff tournament. Certified officials and referees will be in attendance at all games.

The league is open to corporate and non-corporate teams. Teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Individuals are welcome, too.

The league is limited to 18 teams with three divisions. The A Division will feature the highest level of competition; the B Division will feature competitive teams that are talented but a rung below the A level; and the C Division is for teams that are just out to have fun.
