A Festival of Noëls
HORTONVILLE, NY The Weekend of Chamber Music will present a concert for the winter holiday season at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 at Hortonville Presbyterian Church. The church, a historic landmark, is at the intersection of County Route 121 and Hankins Road in Hortonville.
Harpsichordist Kenneth Hamrick will lead the program of vocal and instrumental music, interspersed with short prose and poetry readings from the 17th to 20th centuries, and some traditional Hanukah and Christmas carols. Joining him will be flutist Judith Pearce, soprano Szilvia Schranz, violinist Sunghae Anna Lim and bassoonist Robert Wagner.
Celebrating the spirit of the season in America and Europe, a selection of French, English, German and American carols, DeLalandes Symphonies des Noëls and arias excerpted from Bachs Cantatas for the Christmas season are among the pieces on the program. In addition, the audience is invited to sing along, and to join the musicians for a reception of seasonal treats after the concert.
Admission costs $20, cash or check only at the door, and is free for students 18 and under. A snow date is planned for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12. Updated information and weather alerts are available online at WCMconcerts.org.
