PEEC maintains winter operating schedule

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in Dingmans Ferry will be open to the public all winter. The winter operating schedule will begin in December.

From December 1, 2008 through January 30, 2009, PEEC’s main building will be open to the general public Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All visitors, hikers, families, school groups, birders and the like are welcome to visit PEEC’s main building during these hours to pick up trail maps, trail guides and information about upcoming events and opportunities. The center’s hiking trails will still be open seven days a week to the public from dawn to dusk throughout the winter.

PEEC will also provide its regularly scheduled nature programs throughout the winter, including the Pine Island Birding Program on January 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., a winter eagle watch on January 31 and a winter botany weekend on February 6 through 8.
