GERALD G. EHRHARDT

Gerald G. Ehrhardt of Hemlock Point, Fairview Lake, Paupack, PA, died Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 77.

Mr. Ehrhardt was born November 18, 1930, in Greentown, PA, the son of the late George E. and Marjorie (Hazelton) Ehrhardt.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Alice Ferris.

A graduate of Lackawanna Business School, he was the former owner of Silver Birches Inn, which is now Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Paupack United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ehrhardt was a charter member and former chairman of Wallenpaupack Medical Foundation; member of Palmyra Township Planning Commission; 10-year member of Wayne Memorial Hospital board; 15-year director of Wallenpaupack Area School Board; chairman of Lake Wallenpaupack Association before its merger into Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau and former director of the latter; member of Paupack United Methodist Church and former chairman of the advisory board, co-chair of the building committee and co-chair of the finance committee; member of PPL Lake Advisory Committee and the Hawley Lodge #305 of the F&AM; co-founder of Lake Wallenpaupack Management District and the first ambulance chief at Tafton Fire Company. He was the first ski-patrolman at Paper Birch (Tanglwood) Ski Run and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a superb husband, father and grandfather.

He is also survived by sons Eric and wife Sue Ehrhardt of Tafton, PA, Stephen and wife Keely Ehrhardt of Beach Lake, PA and Craig and Gina Ehrhardt of Paupack; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Brett, Mackenzie, Madison, Rae Ann and Ryan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Thursday, November 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Paupack United Methodist Church, Route 507, Paupack, with Rev. Robert B. Kolvik-Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.

MARY ANN FREY

Mary Ann Frey, a former postmaster of Barryville, NY and long time area resident, died on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY. She was 86.

She was born on November 27, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret Osborn. She attended Catholic schools there.

After WWII, she moved to Barryville, where she raised her family. A family statement reads: “May made enormous sacrifices as she raised her sons; she believed in the dignity of work, the importance of education, the benefits of participating in sports and the vital role that frequent parties play in the life of a community. She was unafraid to take on difficult jobs; she possessed a quick wit and a love of all things Irish. May was a founding mother of the Yulan St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She loved the Boston Celtics, and not just because they wore the Green—because they passed the ball and played as a team.”

She is survived by sons Christopher of Albany, NY, Thomas and wife Patricia of Middletown, NY; and Michael and wife Gena of Barryville; grandchildren Timothy of Sylvania, OH, Keith of Denver, CO, Jennifer and husband Frank Gildea of Statesboro, GA, Torin and Keegan of Barryville; great-grandchildren Stephanie, Kayla, Alyssa, and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her brother, Alfred, and her sisters, Ethel and Margaret.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, 25 Beaver Brook Road, Yulan, NY. There will be no viewing and interment will be at the convenience of the family.


ERNST LUEDEMANN

Ernst Luedemann of Shohola, PA, a lifelong resident of the area, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Place, Port Jervis, NY. He was 87.

The son of the late Hinrich and Anna Norden Luedemann, he was born May 9, 1921 in Germany.

Ernst was a retired warehouseman for Metscher Foods in Farmingdale, Long Island. He was a member of St. Jacobi Church, Shohola, the German American Society Tristate and the Golden Age Club.

A family statements reads: “Ernst was a loving father, grandfather and uncle. He will truly be missed.”

He is survived by two sons, William Luedemann of Oldsmar, FL and Ernst Luedemann and wife Nancy of Huntington, Long Island; two grandchildren, Peter Luedemann of Manhattan and Heidi Luedemann of Queens; three sisters, Gerda Littke of Germany, Lieselotte Hannemann of Shohola and Anneliese Ganz of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

Ernst was the widower of Marichen Luedemann; they were married for 49 years. He is also predeceased by two brothers, Johann and Hermann.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 8 at Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY. Burial will follow at German Hill Cemetery, Shohola, PA.

HARRY PETTERSON

Harry Frank Petterson of Jeffersonville, NY died peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2008. He was 78.

Born in New York City on August 8, 1930, he was the son of Frank and Marie Petterson of Bremen, Germany.

Harry was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lilly Petterson; two daughters, Laura Petterson of Jeffersonville and April Petterson Olsen of North Carolina; a son, Ronald Frank Petterson of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Alana Olsen Schultz, Emily Lena Bernthal and Jared Petterson, all of North Carolina.

A private service will be held at home with family and friends on Saturday, November 8, 2008.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County ARC.


NANCY JEAN WELTON

Nancy Welton of Coffeyville, KS died suddenly on October 27, 2008 in her home. She was 47 years old.

The daughter of Kenneth and Frances Welton, she was born on January 15, 1961 in Liberty, NY.

Nancy was a loving mother, daughter and sister. She came from a large family who loves and dearly misses her. “Rest in peace, little sister.”

She is survived by her son, Clayton Doan of Coffeyville; her mother, Frances Welton of Youngsville, NY; four brothers, Alan Welton and wife Carol of Milanville, PA, Billy Welton and wife Lori of Boynton Beach, FL, Danny Welton and wife Kathy of Jeffersonville, NY and Timmy Welton and wife Terrie of Caney, KS; one sister, Debbie LaBagh and husband Dwayne of White Sulphur Springs, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Welton of Youngsville.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
