KEVIN J. BARNES
Kevin J. Barnes of Callicoon, NY, a life area resident and a retired lieutenant at Eastern New York Correctional Facility, Napanoch, NY, died October 26, 2008 in Callicoon. He was 49.
The son of the late Arthur and Evelyn Roberts Barnes, he was born January 6, 1959 in Hackensack, NJ.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher J. Barnes of North Carolina and Jason R. Barnes and Patricia Barnes of Brooklyn; three brothers: Arthur Barnes of St. Augustine, FL, David Barnes of Kerhonkson, NY and Eric Barnes of Bethel, CT; two sisters, Kathleen Barnes of Bethel and Jeanette Mulz of Anderson, SC; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services were on Friday, October 31, at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., Ellenville, NY with the Rev. Jay Vogelaar officiating. Burial followed in the Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.

BENEDICT A. CHESNICK
Benedict A. Chesnick of Callicoon, NY, a dairy inspector and baseball umpire, died on Monday, October 27, 2008 at Marion Hospital, Carbondale, PA. He was 81.
The son of Jacob and Mary Cavage Chesnick, he was born on February 10, 1927 in Uniondale, PA.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Church in Callicoon, the Sullivan County Umpires Association and the Wayne County, PA Baseball Hall of Fame; and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Tornich Chesnick at home; two daughters, Carol Tunison and husband Robin of Ithaca, NY and Marie Chesnick of Wilmington, MA; two grandchildren, Jaime and Jessica Tunison; three sisters, Veronica, Mary and Pauline; three brothers, Frances, Alphonse and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Chesnick; and siblings Josephine, Stanley, Edward, Amelia, Genevieve, Bernard and Anthony.
Services were on Friday, October 31 at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon, with Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiating. Burial followed in the Callicoon Cemetery in Callicoon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Association, Holy Cross Church or the charity of ones choice.
GEORGE E. HAMILTON
George E. Hamilton of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at home. He was 57.
George was born December 4, 1950 in Port Jervis, the son of George W. and Marion E. Hemmer Hamilton.
George was the traditional unsung hero, working behind the scenes to make sure that equipment and processes were up and running. He held a number of job titles in his 38 years at the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, NY. Georges friends there and everywhere will miss his soul, his spirit and his friendship.
He was a member of St. Marys R.C. Church, Port Jervis.
George is survived by his parents, George and Marion E. Hamilton of Port Jervis; his brother, William Hamilton and wife, Christine of Londonderry, NH; two sisters, Nancy Hamilton of Wheat Ridge, CO and Catherine E. Hamilton of Middletown, NY; his niece Elizabeth; his nephew, Timothy; an uncle, Louis Hemmer and wife Charlene of Liberty, NY; two aunts, Gloria Hemmer of Jeffersonville, NY and Julia Hemmer of Liberty; and several cousins.
A Memorial Blessing Service was held on Wednesday, November 5, at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, with the Rev. George Hafemann officiating. Private interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

ELLIS HANSLMAIER
Ellis Hanslmaier, a lifetime resident of Jeffersonville, NY and a dairy farmer, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Jeffersonville. He was 71.
The son of the late George and Gerda Greve Hanslmaier, he was born on March 10, 1937 in Texas.
He was a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Service of Sullivan County.
Survivors include his companion, Joan Woods at home; two brothers, George Sonny Hanslmaier and wife Lillian of New Berlin, NY, Charles Hanslmaier and wife Helen of Jeffersonville; his sister-in-law, Vivian Hanslmaier of Bethel; three nieces, Diane McGrath and husband Michael, Lori Gradwohl and husband Greg and Dina Hanslmaier; three nephews, Ed Hanslmaier and wife Jeanne, Ryan Hanslmaier and George Hanslmaier and wife Larissa; grand nephews; and special friends, Stephen Schillizzi and William Reye.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hanslmaier.
Funeral services were on Saturday, November 1 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Lee Andrews officiating.

GARY J. KAMPKA
Gary J. Kampka of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Dundee, NY. He was 55.
He was born on February 12, 1953 in Newton, NJ, the son of the late Paul and Bernice Ricker Kampka.
Gary was a plumber with Local #373 at Mountainville, NY. He served our country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Judith Aumick Kampka, who survives at home. He is also survived by daughter Stephanie Kampka and husband David Search of Greenville, NY; sons Benjamin T. Kampka of Stevensville, MT, Gary R. Kampka and wife Shannon of Stevensville, Richard Jones III and wife Jo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and John Jones and wife Debbie of Sparta, NJ; brothers Edward Kampka of the Villages, FL and Bruce Kampka of Springdale, NJ; sister Nancy Kosc of Branchville, NJ; grandchildren David, Elizabeth, Luke and Haley; and several nieces and nephews.
A family statement reads: Gary was an avid bow hunter and loved the outdoors.
Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
ANN MARTORELLI
Ann Martorelli of Beach Lake, PA, a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. She was 86.
Ann was born December 20, 1922 in Elizabeth NJ. She was a retired clerk for Singer Sewing Machine Company.
Survivors include brother Joseph Baraniecki and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Baraniecki and Grace Sarno and her husband James (Bud).
Ann was predeceased by her husband Louis A. Martorelli, who passed away November 19, 2003; and by her brother John Baraniecki.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday November 5 at the funeral home. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.
ELVIRA LEONTINE REYNOLDS
Elvira Leontine Reynolds of Cochecton, NY peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008.
Born in 1925, she was the daughter of Elroy Wormuth and Elvira L. Essman Wormuth.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Reynolds.
She attended the University of New York at Delhi, served as Secretary and Treasurer of Reynolds Earthmovers and was a member of the womens Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #73, Monticello, NY.
She is survived by her children, Karen Alcaide and husband Hector and Wayne Reynolds and wife Noreen; her brother Raymond Wormuth and wife Shirley; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many long-time friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 2 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, PA.
