Critical applause for Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop
SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshops most recent production, Misery, has been awarded four Roving Adjudicator Merit Awards from the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS).
In addition, the companys Proof has been chosen as one of only eight productions (and only two full length shows) to participate in the TANYS Festival in Batavia this year from November 21 to November 23. This will be the fourth consecutive year the workshop has had a show represented at festival.
The awards for Misery were a Meritorious Achievement in Direction to Sally Gladden, a Meritorious Achievement in Acting to DeLois Cookie House as Annie Wilkes, Excellence in Acting to Wayne Kreuscher as Paul Sheldon and a Meritorious Achievement to Bunny Woloszczak as stage manager and her stage crew
In commenting on the show, the judges wrote, Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop closes its ambitious season with a horror story by Stephen King in time for the spirit of Halloween… Wayne Kreuscher of New Paltz is outstanding in his role of a writer stranded and held captive by one crazy lady played by DeLois Cookie House of Ellenville.
House captures the soft loving moments as she nurses her idol and shifts quickly into the other sides of this demented woman. Technical effects are a challenge as the show moves quickly through many scenes, times of day and seasons of the year. A real treat for the audience in this scary season.
