Retreat for icon painting

SHOHOLA, PA — An icon-painting workshop and retreat will be offered at St. Ann’s Church on Richardson Ave, off Route 434 at 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. from November 10 to 14. Nationally known iconographer Peter Pearson will facilitate the workshop.

For centuries, iconography was done exclusively by monastics hidden away from the world, but now it is available to people of faith as a direct result of the resurgence of interest among believers from many denominations.

The cost is $225, which includes all materials. During the retreat, each participant will complete the icon of St. Nicholas, from beginning to end, following traditional methods of iconography while using more modern, user-friendly materials. The experience will include prayer, discussions, demonstrations and lectures. Additional materials will also be provided for personal reading.

No prior experience is necessary, all are welcome but space is limited. Reservations require a $50 deposit, which can be mailed to St. Ann’s Church, 125 Richardson Ave, Shohola, PA 18458.
