Acclaimed quartet comes to Grey Towers

MILFORD, PA — The internationally acclaimed Carducci String Quartet will perform at Grey Towers National Historic Site on Saturday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m.

Offered as part of the U.S. Forest Service Conservation and the Arts program and presented by the Kindred Spirits Arts Program, the program offers music that ranges from Josef Haydn—who invented the idea of a string quartet—to American composer Philip Glass.

The young foursome has won major competitions in New York, France, England and Japan. The Carducci has recorded quartets by Haydn, Antonio Vivaldi, the contemporary American Joseph Horovitz and tango master Astor Piazzolla.

“They have the gift of imparting enthusiasm to the audience,” wrote Musical Opinion magazine. And the late Graham Whettam, one of Great Britain’s finest 20th-century composers, said, “Although I have heard many performances by distinguished quartets, I have never heard a finer one than the Carducci’s.” For more information visit carducciquartet.co.uk.

Tickets cost $20 for adults, $12 for children 12 and younger, and can be purchased at the door or at Born to Be, at the corner of Harford and Broad streets in Milford.
