Upper Delaware celebrates 20, 30, 40
By TOM KANE
DAMASCUS, PA - Daryll Brasseale of Cochecton Center, NY brought his two children and his nephew to the Upper Delaware Expo on Saturday, October 25 because he wanted them to learn about the animals and birds that live along the Delaware River.
Its a good experience every time we come to events like this, he said. They get to see these things up close. They loved the exhibit on the birds of prey.
Despite the steady rain, the forums and exhibits that lined the corridors of the Damascus Elementary School on Route 371 in Damascus were well attended.
Besides the always popular birds of prey demo, conducted by Bill Streeter of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center, other events included a demonstration of reptiles and amphibians by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the appearance of the K-9 Search and Rescue Squad. Bad weather hindered the demonstration of river safety methods.
There was also an exhibit of David B. Soetes photographs of the river valley and area school childrens posters that were specifically created for the event.
Food was provided by Boy Scout Troop 122.
