Celebrating All Saints Day
LIBERTY, NY The Liberty Free Theatre will present the band Crazy Cat Lady on Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. The All Saints Day evening will begin with a program of scary, satirical fables by the eminent Polish writer Slawomir Mrozek, performed by Rilla Askew and Paul Austin.
Crazy Cat Lady returns to Liberty Free Theatre following an enthusiastically received debut at the theatres garden last summer. The band carries on the musical traditions of The Clash, Iggy Pop and Jethro Tull among others. Dylan Glenn-Johanson is on guitar, drums and vocals, Emma Jerome is on keyboards and vocals, Lyle Scott is on lead guitar, vocals and bass, and Jon-Jon Thomas is on drums and bass.
After years of exile because of his satirical denunciations of Stalinism, Slawomir Mrozek returned to his native Poland upon the fall of Communism. His work is rarely seen in the United States, even though he is considered one of Europes major literary and intellectual figures.
Admission for the performance is free. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested. The audience is invited to gather after the performance for food, drink and more music. The theatre is located at 109 South Main Street. Call 845/292-3788 for reservations and information.
