Beautiful Hills of Brooklyn screened at Tusten Theatre
NARROWSBURG, NY The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will present screening and discussion of the short film Beautiful Hills of Brooklyn on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tusten Theatre. The executive producer of the 38-minute drama is Bob Balaban. International stage director Ragnar Freidank directed the film which also features the work of Emmy-nominated cinematographer (and Upper Delaware Valley resident) Edward Marritz and Callicoon-based musician Kazzrie Jaxen, who created the original score.
Beautiful Hills of Brooklyn is a story of the human spirit, told through the ordinary, daily life of an elderly womanstrong, independent and unsentimentalthe kind of life that goes on quietly, hidden from view, full of undiscovered riches. Starring Joanna Merlin (Class Action, Invasion, The Wackness, Law & Order: SVU) as Jessie Singer Sylvester, yhe film captures Jessies remarkable inner life, with a spare beauty and lyrical grace that resonates far beyond the limits of her world.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Freidank, Merlin and Jaxen.
Admission cost is a suggested donation of $10. The Tusten Theatre is located at 210 Bridge Street, and is managed by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County.
