Hooting it up for Halloween

Haunted trail

DAMASCUS, PA — There will be a haunted trail at the Damascus Community Center on Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 25 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The requested donation is $4 for adults and $3 for children. Less spooky activities are inside for the littlest Halloweeners.

Free babysitting with adult supervision is offered while adults walk the trail. The Damascus Community Center is on Conklin Hill Road off Route 371. All proceeds benefit the center.

Halloween parade and party

CALLICOON, NY — The Delaware Youth Center’s Halloween parade and party will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m., followed by games and treats at the center in Callicoon. Lineup stars at 12:45 p.m. behind the library. In case of rain, go directly to the center. For more information call 845/887-5155.

Poe reading at Grey Towers

MILFORD, PA — The Grey Towers Heritage Association and the U.S. Forest Service at Grey Towers are hosting the American Readers Theatre Company (ART) in “Forevermore,” an adaptation of four works of Poe on Saturday, October 25 at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of Grey Towers.

Selected works of Edgar Allen Poe were included in the Pinchots’ personal library collection, and dramatic readings were a common form of entertainment for 19th century families.

The program is appropriate for high school age and older. Tickets cost $15 per person and can be purchased at Grey Towers or online at greytowers.org.

Owloween program

BUSHKILL, PA — “Hunters of the Night,” a live owl program, will be presented by Kathy and Eric Uhler of the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center at Bushkill Falls on Saturday, October 25 from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. Participants will learn about owls while seeing several up-close live native species.

Bushkill Falls is located off Route 209 in Bushkill. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. Admission to the falls costs $10 for adults, $9 for seniors 62 and over, $6 children ages four through 10, and free for children under four. There is no additional cost for the owl program.
