Prodigy from the Ukraine featured at Shandelee family concert
MONTICELLO, NY The Shandelee Music Festival will hold its inaugural Fall Family Concert in the Arnold Hughs Auditorium of Monticello High School on Saturday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. The special concert will feature pianist Inna Faliks, who will perform works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Ravel and Brahms and will have open discussions with the audience regarding the pieces performed.
Faliks is a Ukrainian-born American artist who recently was the recipient of the 2005 Pro Musicis International Award in New York and Grand Prize winner of the 2005 St. Charles International Piano Competition. She moved to the United States at age 10 from Odessa, Ukraine and made her debut with the Chicago Symphony at age 15.
The concert is dedicated to the memory of the late Marge Siegel. She and her husband Lee have been enthusiastic supporters of the festival since its inception. Her family has helped to underwrite the event.
Students are admitted free, college students free with school ID. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for an adult with a child and $10 for seniors.
