BETTY ANN ALCENCIO
Betty Ann Alcencio of Sparrowbush, NY, formerly of Roscoe, NY, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Steve A. and Isabelle I. Conklin, she was born November 2, 1934 in Suffern.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Conklin and husband Robert of Jefferson, NY, Angela Hanratty and husband James of Roscoe and Theresa Simonetti and husband Peter of Sparrowbush; one son, Angelo Alcencio and wife Cindy of Middletown, NY; two sisters, Barbara Conklin of Monroe, NY and Emily Neuser and husband George of Chester, NY; two brothers, Robert Conklin of Chester and Kenneth Conklin and his wife Roberta of Monroe; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her dear pet, Daisy.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 29 at Harris Funeral Home, Liberty, NY, with the Rev. John Thomason officiating. Burial was in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd., Liberty, NY.
EDITH D. BOHN
Edith D. Bohn of Port Jervis, NY and a longtime resident of the area died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 83.
She was born March 30, 1925 in Gross Pointe, MI, the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillian Porter Saunders. She was married to the late Fred Robinson on January 15, 1975.
Edith was an active soldier with the Salvation Army of Port Jervis and, along with her sister, Etta Mecca, rang the bell every year for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season. She was also a member of the Salvation Armys Home League.
Survivors include her sons, Theodore DeGraw and wife Margot of Orlando, FL, Richard Robinson and wife May of Buena Park, CA and James Robinson of Sparrowbush, NY; daughters Dolores Dimmett and husband Paul of Bushnell, IL, Carol Pedlock of Macomb, IL, Sharon Harford-Robinson of Huntington, PA and Lilliam Flores and husband Martin of Port Jervis; sister Etta Mecca of Matamoras, PA; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers Al Saunders and Earl Saunders; sister Ina Saunders Claire; and brother-in-law Vito Mecca.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 27 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home with Captain Alan Krueger of the Salvation Army officiating.
Burial was at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.

LINDA A. CARD
Linda A. Card of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 67.
Linda was born on August 28, 1941 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Willard and Helen Tompkins Kadel.
She married Robert G. Card, who predeceased her on November 18, 1997. She attended the First Baptist Church in Port Jervis.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Card and wife Staci of Glen Spey, NY and David Card of High Point, NC; three daughters, Valarie Cofill and husband Randall of Pine Bush, NY, Vicki Engelhart and husband Todd of Glen Spey and Vanessa Miller and husband Lynne of Milford, PA; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Alayne.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 26 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, with Rev. Robert E. Foster officiating.
Interment took place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

JOSEPH EDWARD CRUZ
Joseph Edward Cruz of Hortonville, NY, co-owner of Brookside Greenhouse in Hortonville and a maintenance supervisor for Elite Investigations in Manhattan, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital in Manhattan. He was 66.
Son of the late Jose Edward and Lucy Sylvia Cruz, he was born on October 2, 1941 in Fairhaven, MA.
A family statement reads, May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Kinsey Cruz at home; sons Joseph Edward Cruz Jr. and wife Mary of Milltown, NJ and Shane J. Cruz and wife Deanna of Obernburg, NY; daughters Deanna Winter and husband Douglas of Cochecton, NY and Stacey Berlingeri and husband Josh of Hortonville; six grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth and John Cruz, Madison and Mason Berlingeri and Rally Cruz; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Antoinette Souza and Joyce Graham.
Services were held Saturday, September 27 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Callicoon, NY with Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiating.
Burial was made in the Hortonville Cemetery, Hortonville.

FLORENCE E. MALLON
Florence E. Mallon of Warwick, NY, formerly of Deltona, FL, passed away on September 25, 2008, at St. Anthonys Hospital, Warwick. She was 83.
Born on June 8, 1925 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann (Mullins) Van de Berghe. She was married to the late Aloysius G. Mallon for 60 years.
Mrs. Mallon was an accounting clerk with the City of New York before retiring. She was a former member of the Deltona Womens Club, danced with the Show Stoppers, enjoyed playing bridge and sewing.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Mallon and wife Claire of Sanibel Island, FL, Kevin Mallon and wife Laura of Warwick and Patrick Mallon and wife Marian of Smallwood, NY; eight grandchildren, Patrick, Kevin, Kerry, Michael, Erin, Scott, Jill and Corrie; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Van de Berghe and George Van de Berghe, both of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Monday, September 29 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Warwick.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, at St. Stephens R.C. Church. Interment followed in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.

ANDREW E. MCKEAN
Andrew E. McKean of Bethel, NY, a lifelong area resident, died on Sunday, September 28, 2008. He was 38.
The son of Gibson and Marilyn Martin McKean, he was born June 4, 1970 in Port Jervis, NY. He was married to Karen Karling McKean for 11 years.
Andrew was a mortgage loan officer with Gaffken Barriger of Bridgeville, NY. He was formerly employed by The First National Bank of Jeffersonville for 13 years as a loan officer. He was a graduate of Eldred High School and received a BS from Pace University.
Andrew was a member of the Eldred Methodist Church. He helped form the Sullivan County Striders Club, he was a member of the Lions Club of Jeffersonville and a board member of the Sullivan County Community College Dormitory Corp.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Shannon and Morgan; at home; his parents of Eldred; brother Michael and wife Lori of Shohola, PA; sister Linda McKean of Eldred; three nieces and two nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in McKean Valley Cemetery, Shohola.

MARIA OLENSKY
Maria Olensky of Glen Spey, NY, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 96.
She was born March 3, 1912 in Ukraine, the daughter of the late Jakiw and the late Mychajla Sitarchuk Agris.
Maria was married to the late John Olensky. She worked in the garment industry in New York City as a forelady.
She was a member of Ukrainian National Womens League of America, UNWLA Branch # 62 and The Ukrainian Museum in New York City.
Maria is survived by many close friends.
She is predeceased by her two daughters, Arcadia and Chrystyna.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 26 with a Liturgy Mass in St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating.
Burial was at St. Andrews Cemetery, So. Bound Brook, NJ.

Victoria E. Skinger of New Windsor, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus in Goshen, NY. She was 75.
Daughter of the late Edward and Agatha Kimak Markins, she was born November 4, 1932 in Ambridge, PA.
She was the president of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Patricks Church in Newburgh, NY.
Survivors include her children, Cindy Dummich and husband Gary of Savannah, GA, Cheryl Iberger and husband Greg of Schenectady, NY, Karen Pickard and husband John of White Sulphur Springs, NY, Frank Skinger and wife Gloria of Ferndale, NY, Lisa Skinger at home and Paul Skinger of Glen Spey, NY; grandchildren Felicia, Lena, Jason, Greg Jr., Adam, John Jr., Jasmin, Frankie Jr. and Nicholas; two great-grandchildren; sisters Maggie Kulyk of Poland, OH and Janet Wright of Oceanside, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Veronica Messmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, October 1 at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.

SARAH B. TOTTEN
Sarah B. Totten of Carbondale PA, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 in the Marian Community Hospital Carbondale, PA. She was 65.
Sarah was born in Honesdale, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha Mary Thompson Darling. She worked as a nurses aide at the Lackawanna City Health Care Center. Sarah attended the Bethany United Methodist Church, had a pleasant personality, and was a loving mother and wife.
She is survived by her husband, James D. Totten; son Charles E. Totten of Carbondale; brothers James Darling of Bethany, PA and Frank Darling and wife Linda of Hawley, PA; sister Dorothy Case and husband Farrington of Welcome Lake, PA; granddaughter Jennifer; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kellogg, who died in 2000.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday September 30, 2008 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA.
