Paintings by folk artist Tinsley on display at The River Gallery

NARROWSBURG, NY — River Gallery-The Art of Living will host an artist’s reception for its exhibit of the works of David Tinsley on Saturday, October 4 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Tinsley is a self-taught primitive expressionist. The paintings in the exhibit, “Folk Art: Paintings on Wood,” are done with fingers and an ice pick, with brushes used sparingly. The images develop during the painting process, molded by the feelings and thoughts Tinsley has during the process, in effect scarred into the surface of the painting. Most are acrylic on board approximately 16 inches square, with glossy surfaces of museum-quality varnish. They are framed with painted slates and ready to hang.

Tinsley wants to offer unique paintings of high quality and affordable prices to those addicted to possessing or collecting such art, and he has always believed a work of art should speak for itself.
